The autofocus is not very fast but it does autofocus decently accurately when shooting outdoors. Indoors I found I had to switch to manual focus but the focus ring is very smooth and allows for very small adjustments. It does great for portraits, and you can really get close with the macro, and very good bokeh. Overall it is a great lens!

This in-built pan head could be a little stiff when brand new, especially in cold temperatures but with a little use it should become smooth to rotate. <br... read more /> Product review: Benro VT2 Locking Base is quiet sturdy. Tested with a setup of Nikon D750 + Nikkor 500 mm 5.6 PF + Benro MSD 46C monopod + Benro GH2 gimbal head. If placed on a flat surface you need not even hand hold the setup (slight wobbling is there)
Obviously you won't take the risk when you are out on field. Overall a great product
