Indoors I found I had to switch to manual focus but the focus ring is very smooth and allows for very small adjustments. Build quality is great and it can easily handle a telephoto lens. The leveling pan head is a nice feature on a monopod. This in-built pan head could be a little stiff when brand new, especially in cold temperatures but with a little use it should become smooth to rotate.
