NEVER LOSE FOCUS

Perfect for sports photographers and photojournalists, never miss a decisive moment with the Nikon D6. The 105-point AF cross sensors deliver superior focus acquisition through a new algorithm in the AF sensor and a new AF engine with Multi-CAM37K autofocus sensor module, giving you more coverage through a higher-density triple-sensor arrangement. This greatly reduces non-AF covered areas, making it 1.6x more accurate than the D5. Enjoy a continuous shooting speed of approximately of 14 fps1 with AF/AE, driven by the newly developed mirror driving mechanism.

Subject detection and tracking performance, such as 3D-tracking and auto-area AF, are also further enhanced with the new 180K-pixel RGB sensor and EXPEED 6 image-processing engine. The combination of both technologies also allows for focus priority on a subject’s eye2 when using auto-area AF or 3D-tracking. A ‘Wide’ option also enables you to focus on your intended subject, even when just pointing the lens roughly in the same area – perfect for unexpected situations when you need quick snaps. Evolved Auto area AF, automatically detects and achieves focus based on information from all focus points which allows you to set the focus point on your desired subject, making it easier than ever to track. Enjoy a wide range of custom settings for grouping AF points. Choose from 17 different pattern settings to find the best way to capture your scenes.

UP YOUR GAME

Time is of the essence. Improve your work flow with faster image transfers. Built-in Wi-Fi and WT-6 transmitters ensure quicker and more versatile methods of uploading your images, along with a port for Wired LAN, which supports 1000BASE-T standard and achieves approx. 15% faster communication. RAW image transfers to a smart device are also made possible through SnapBridge, which is an added convenience when you need to share images with editors and clients on the go. Another added benefit is priority image upload, a feature that allows you to select and send handpicked images rapidly through wired LAN and WT-6/A/B/C, making it perfect for time sensitive jobs, such as real-time photojournalism. This makes the Nikon D6 a truly great addition to any professional’s arsenal.

RIGHT ON TARGET

Silent photography with full megapixels is now possible in live view photography. Take control of any photographic situation with silent, high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 10.5 fps (with AE tracking and fixed AF). Silent time-lapse and silent interval timer photography is also possible. In situations where silence is required, the Nikon D6 comes in handy during time-sensitive events or when you want to avoid mechanical blur when filming a time-lapse that requires a large number of shutter releases. Get creative without any disturbances.

QUICK ON THE DRAW

Experience a new kind of efficiency with the image confirmation/selection workflow for simultaneous recording with the Nikon D6. Utilising two designated slots, users can easily sort and playback shots they’ve taken on the go. Simultaneously capture large JPEG images for editing, or smaller JPEG images and enjoy faster transfers with dual-card slots, maximising your workflow efficiency. Reduce your transfer time even further with flick operation, a function that allows you to access your frequently used and preferred settings with a flick of a switch. Building upon the D5, enjoy the same great operability and ergonomics, along with an industry standard Kensington security slot for greater peace of mind while out on a shoot.

THE PROFESSIONAL’S CHOICE

Capture images of unprecedented quality with the EXPEED 6 image-processing engine. The EXPEED 6 beautifully reproduces human skin tones, while also providing high resolution images with less noise even at high ISO settings, so you can capture your subjects sharper than ever before.

Compatible with F mount lenses, the camera has access to a vast range of lenses in virtually every desired focal length, to perfectly match your shooting situation. Built-in GPS delivers accurate time and location information, perfect for journalists or those wishing to make note of important memories and milestones.

More durable than ever, the Nikon D6 is heat-resistant, weather-resistant and dust-resistant, making it a robust companion. Similarly, its robust shutter can easily achieve over 500,000 shutter releases. The next-generation CFexpress memory card is a fast and reliable way of storing your images on the go. Keep your eye on the prize with an optical viewfinder which delivers approx. 0.72x magnification and approximately 100% frame coverage, so you can get the whole picture. A new OLED and matte screen3 display, makes it easier for you to view your images and achieve your desired shot.

Far more than just a camera, the Nikon Nikon D6 is a technical marvel that will deliver triumphant results in any condition imaginable.
